The purpose of this seminar is to reflect upon and analyse the process of digitising cultural items and the place this occupies in the European knowledge society. Essential components of the seminar analysis will be the new models for legal digital offers\, the Europeana library and orphan works\, as well as their repercussion on access to culture and the protection of intellectual property rights.
