The Spanish Ministry of Culture and the European Commission, in collaboration with the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, will organise the European Forum for Cultural Industries, the main meeting on culture planned by the Spanish Presidency of the EU. The Forum will precede the informal council of EU ministers for culture to be held on the following day, 31 March in Barcelona.

The purpose of this seminar is to reflect upon and analyse the process of digitising cultural items and the place this occupies in the European knowledge society. Essential components of the seminar analysis will be the new models for legal digital offers, the Europeana library and orphan works, as well as their repercussion on access to culture and the protection of intellectual property rights.
